our mission

After the sudden and unexpected death of our Dad, Tommy Boggs we were overwhelmed with the messages about the impact that he had on young men's lives through Baseball. Through tears we decided the only way to truly honor him would be to continue his giving spirit for years to come which is how the Tommy Boggs Giving Legacy, Inc came to be. Our mission is to give back to baseball in central Texas through scholarships and resources for socio-economically disadvantaged athletes to be able to compete at the highest level. By doing so his Legacy will continue to be lived out for years to come.

I was incredibly blessed to have had Tommy in my life when I needed it the most. At different times he was a coach, a friend, a big brother, and a father figure to me. At different times Tommy handed me new cleats when I had none, fed me in his own home at his family’s table, handed me a brand new TPX baseball bat when I left to play in college, and most importantly—handed out some tough love when I needed it more than anything else. An unbelievable competitor who taught me as well as countless others to play the game right, to be hard nosed baseball players, and more importantly—to be good people. Back in the mid to late 80s he started it all for those of us in Central Texas who dreamed of being ball players. To this day I still try to teach our own four kids how to compete in sports the way Tommy taught me. I had many opportunities in my life that otherwise would have never been possible without what Tommy personally did for me and for that I am eternally thankful. I have a million great memories about him. It truly was an honor to have been given the opportunity to play for you Coach Boggsy — Sean Wertz
